Important Notes
- The stock ONYX 5-amp and 10-amp chargers are not compatible with Level 2 EV stations (220V/240V). Plugging them into an EV station will cause them to fail and become permanently damaged.
- Avoid charging at an EV station during rain.
- Do not charge the battery if its temperature exceeds 105°F.
ONYX EV Station Level 2 Charging Guide
Locate Charging Stations
- Use the FLO EV, PlugShare, or ChargePoint map to locate a J1772 (Level 2) charger.
- Download the FLO, ChargePoint, and PlugShare apps to locate EV charging stations near you equipped with J1772 (Level 2) chargers.
- Many of these stations are either free or very affordable, especially given the smaller size of our batteries.
Required Adapter
- Purchase a J1772 to NEMA 5-15/5-20 EV Charger Adapter to connect your charger to any 110V/220V EV station.
- For multiple chargers, use either a power strip with a single pigtail J1772 adapter or order a J1772 multi-pigtail adapter to connect more than one charger at a time.
Charger Compatibility
- Ensure your charger’s label specifies 110V/220V compatibility before using it at EV stations.
- Do not plug in chargers designed exclusively for 110V as they are incompatible with EV stations.
- If your charger lacks a label, contact the seller or manufacturer to confirm compatibility.
These steps will help you safely and efficiently charge your ONYX RCR at EV stations.
