Controller Bluetooth Module

Upgrade your controller’s Bluetooth module to the black (BLE) version-trust me, you’ll want it! If your ONYX was built before summer 2023 ( v1.0, v1.2), it’s rocking the old white module (a no-go for iPhones). But if yours came after (v1.5, LTD) congrats-you’ve already got the black (BLE) module, which works with both iPhone and Android.

Kelly Controller Bluetooth Module

The white Kelly controller Bluetooth module uses Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a Classic Bluetooth technology, while the black module uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Both operate on the 2.4 GHz band, but the black module utilizes 40 distinct channels for communication, separate from those used by the white module.

Bluetooth Classic: EDR Version 1.0 - 3.0

Bluetooth 1.0 capped speeds at 1 Mbps with a 10-meter range. Bluetooth 2.0 introduced p/4-DQPSK and 8DPSK, raising speeds to 2–3 Mbps. Bluetooth 3.0 hit 24 Mbps with optional 802.11 support but came at the cost of higher power consumption.

Bluetooth Low Energy: BLE Versions 4.0 - 5.0

Bluetooth 4.0 introduced Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for low-power use, supporting a 1 Mbps data rate with GFSK modulation. Bluetooth 5 enhanced BLE with four data rates-2 Mbps, 1 Mbps, 500 kbps, and 125 kbps-offering extended range (up to 240 meters) at lower speeds and faster transmission at shorter distances.

Bluetooth Connector

Both the BLE and EDR Bluetooth modules utilize the same JST SM 4-pin connectors.

QDASH for Kelly Controller

“Qdash” is an ONYX performance analyzer that delivers real-time insights into speed, throttle input, motor and controller temperatures, battery life, and overall ride efficiency.

Qdash Bluetooth Module

Qdash needs the black (BLE) Bluetooth module and is currently iPhone-only, but don’t worry-Android and Fardriver support is coming soon!

AC Aduser

“AC Aduser” is the Android app used to program and configure the ONYX Kelly controller, allowing ONYX owners to adjust parameters, access diagnostics, and manage settings directly from their Android phone via Bluetooth.

Battery BMS

The Super Power BMS app, Xiaoxiang BMS app, Overkill Solar BMS app, and ANT BMS app are used to communicate with ONYX batteries, offering real-time readings, logs, diagnostics, tuning, and control over the charge and discharge ports.

Kelly Controller Windows App

The Windows app provides a convenient alternative for users without an Android device, offering the same core functionality for tuning and adjustments. The Windows version of the Kelly Controller app functions almost identically to the Android version. A Windows computer with Bluetooth capability or the USB to RS-232 cable is required to pair with the Kelly controller.
