ONYX Cleaning Side Panels
Cleaning the aluminum side panels on your Onyx RCR is pretty straightforward, but you want to do it right to avoid scratches and oxidation.
Basic Cleaning (For Light Dirt and Dust)
- Dust Off First: Use a microfiber cloth or a soft brush to remove any loose dirt.
- Mild Soap & Water: Mix a few drops of dish soap in warm water. Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe down the panels.
- Rinse & Dry: Wipe off soap residue with a damp cloth, then dry with a clean microfiber towel.
Deep Cleaning & Polishing (For Stains, Water Spots, or Oxidation)
- Use Aluminum Cleaner: A product like Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish or Autosol Metal Polish works great for restoring shine.
- Apply with a Microfiber Cloth: Use circular motions to work the polish into the metal.
- Buff it Out: After letting it sit for a minute, buff with a clean cloth to bring out the shine.
Extra Protection (To Keep It Looking Good)
- Wax or Sealant: Applying a light coat of car wax or aluminum sealant helps prevent future oxidation.
- Ceramic Coating: If you want long-term protection, a ceramic coat can keep the panels cleaner for longer.
What to Avoid
- Abrasive Pads & Steel Wool: These will scratch the aluminum.
- Harsh Chemicals: Avoid anything acidic or corrosive.
- Pressure Washers Up Close: Too much pressure can push water into unwanted areas.
