ONYX Kelly Controller Programming

To program the Kelly controller using the AC Aduser app, you’ll need an Android phone paired with the white Kelly Bluetooth EDR module, or a Windows laptop with a USB to RS232 cable. Alternatively, you can program the controller through the QDASH app if you have the black Bluetooth BLE module and an iPhone running iOS 17.6 or later.

Which Blueeoth Do You Have?

If your ONYX is from before summer 2022 (V1.0 or V1.2), it likely has the older white Bluetooth EDR module-which doesn’t support iPhones. But if you’ve got a V1.5, V1.75 or LTD model, you’re in luck-it comes with the newer black Bluetooth BLE module that works with both iPhone and Android.

  • If you need to buy the white or black Bluetooth module (BLE or EDR), or the USB to RS232 cable, check out the “ONYX Bluetooth Modules and USB Cable” post for links and details.

AC Aduser App

AC Aduser is Kelly’s go-to app for tuning-works on Android with the white Bluetooth EDR module, or on a Windows 10 or 11 laptop via USB-to-RS232 cable. Grab it from the “ONYX Community Downloads” post.

QDASH App

QDASH is the iPhone-ready way to fine-tune your controller-but it only works with the black Bluetooth BLE dongle, not the USB cable or white EDR version. Check the QDASH Bluetooth guide to make sure you’re good to go.

Connect Android to AC Aduser

To pair the Kelly controller’s white Bluetooth (EDR) dongle with an Android device, turn on the bike, then open your Android’s Bluetooth settings and wait about 30 seconds for nearby devices to show up. The dongle will appear as an 8-digit ID like “21072647” (no colons). A blinking red light on the dongle is normal. Just note: the controller’s Bluetooth won’t show up as “ONYX RCR”-that name usually belongs to the battery’s Bluetooth, especially if it was renamed.

regular

  • Turn on your ONYX RCR.
  • Open the Bluetooth menu in your Android device’s settings.
  • Pair your ONYX RCR Bluetooth
  • Enter the pairing password: “1234”.
  • Launch the Kelly app (AC Aduser).
  • At the warning screen, tap “Yes”.
  • On the next screen, choose “Bluetooth”.
  • Tap the Bluetooth ID you paired earlier.
  • Connect: Tap “Connect” on the AC calibration screen.
  • Once the status shows “Connected” in green, tap “Read” to load the controller’s data.

Note: Samsung devices run on Android. If you get an “Unsafe App Blocked” pop-up, tap “More details” to try bypassing it-or adjust your Samsung security settings to allow the app. You can find step-by-step instructions for this on YouTube.

Kelly Controller Windows App

You can download the Windows version of the AC Aduser app from the “ONYX Community Downloads” post to program your Kelly controller. It’s a solid alternative if you don’t have an Android device, offering nearly identical functionality for tuning and adjustments. To connect, you’ll need a Windows 10 or 11 computer with either built-in Bluetooth or a USB to RS-232 cable. The Bluetooth modules and USB cable can be found in the “ONYX Bluetooth Modules and USB Cable” post.
