This page is part of the ONYX Maintenance Guide
This post provides a structured reference for maintaining and inspecting ONYX platforms using interval-based service schedules.
It includes:
- Scheduled maintenance intervals
- Routine inspection procedures
- Mechanical and electrical system checks
- Cleaning and upkeep practices
- Long-term storage considerations
The information is organized to support consistent maintenance, early issue detection, and long-term system reliability.
Using This Schedule
- “Every Ride” items are quick visual and functional checks
- Mileage intervals are cumulative and should be tracked consistently
- Perform earlier service under harsh conditions (dust, water, aggressive riding)
- Combine overlapping intervals to reduce redundant work

General Maintenance
Routine maintenance is required to keep the ONYX platform operating safely and reliably. If any procedures fall outside your experience level, use a qualified service provider. Ensure all service work is documented and retained, as maintenance records support diagnostics and add value during ownership transfer.
Cleaning and Inspection
- Clean and lubricate all moving components regularly
- Tighten loose hardware and make necessary adjustments
- Inspect steering components, pedals, suspension, and wheel assemblies
- Pay additional attention after riding in wet, dirty, or corrosive conditions
Hardware Checks
- Perform a visual inspection before every ride
- Check critical fasteners physically every few rides
- Increase inspection frequency when riding on rough terrain
Threadlocker
Apply threadlocker where needed to prevent loosening from vibration.
Electrical System Checks
Wiring
- Inspect all wiring for damaged insulation or exposed conductors
- Check for loose or stressed connections
Electronic Components
- Verify proper operation of components under the battery cover and throughout the bike
- Address faults immediately to prevent cascading failures
Brake System
Front Brake (Hydraulic)
- Maintain proper brake fluid levels
- Check reservoir through the sight window on a level surface
- Do not operate with leaks or damaged lines
- Service or bleed through a qualified technician if needed
Rear Brake
- Replace brake pads as required
- Adjust brake cable tension to compensate for wear and cable stretch
Drivetrain
Chain and Freewheel
- Lubricate regularly to reduce wear
- Clean after exposure to dirt, water, or salt
- Inspect for wear and proper tension
Alarm Key Fob Battery
- Use a fine-tip flathead screwdriver to remove the chrome side covers
- Open the housing from the bottom edge
- Replace with a CR2032 battery
Long-Term Storage
- Follow lithium-ion battery storage best practices
- Disconnect the battery if unused for extended periods (>1 month)
- Store in a controlled temperature environment
