Use this motor controller tester here to check if your ONYX motor is functioning properly. It’s perfect for diagnosing potential damage to the motor, phase wire harness, or verifying a used motor before purchase.

Stainless Steel Locking Tie

The perfect solution to keep the front brake line from hitting the tire. Just hook it around the brake line and slide it behind the front fork stabilizer for a secure anchor. If you’ve upgraded to Shinko 241 or 244 tires, this is a must-have.

Brake Parts Cleaner Spray

Give your brake discs and pads quick bursts of brake cleaner regularly to keep them clean and ensure a strong, reliable grip.

Steel Wool

Useful for removing blemishes from chrome finishes and overall surface preparation and cleaning.

Sand Paper Pack 120 to 1500 Grit

Useful for minor touch-ups, projects, and eliminating front brake squeaking.

13mm Drill Bit

The recommended drill bit size for creating a hole in your steering stem nut cover to mount your Quad Lock phone mount.

Front Axle Wrench

The front tire axle nut is 19mm and should be tightened to 45Nm. When reinstalling, always clean the axle and add two drops of threadlocker for a secure hold.

Rear Axle Wrench

The rear tire axle nut is 24mm and should be tightened to 80Nm. When reinstalling, always clean the axle and apply two drops of threadlocker for a secure fit.

Right Angle Screwdriver

This is the tool you need to remove the cover from the yellow phase wire box.

Zip Ties

Use 4" or 8" zip ties for securing wires and cables, and 12" zip ties for phase wires or special projects.

U-Shaped Crimp Tool

For any electrical wiring repairs or modifications on an ONYX, use U-shaped brass terminal connectors along with loom tape and heat shrink tubing.

U-Shaped Terminals Connector

A wire with a 0.25 mm diameter is approximately 24 AWG, while a 1.5 mm diameter wire is around 16 AWG.

Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper

A self-adjusting wire stripper gets the job done faster, cleaner, and better-all without the risk of damaging the wire.

Electrical Wire Loom Tape

Electrical loom tape is designed to withstand high temperatures and protects wires from cuts, scrapes, and wear caused by friction, especially in areas with movement or vibration.

Shrink Tubing

For 12-22 AWG wires, use 6.4mm or 9.5mm shrink tubing. For connectors, go with 15mm shrink tubing for an XT60, 30mm for a QS8, and 12.7mm for 8 AWG and 6 AWG cables.

Expandable Braided Sleeving

Cable sleeving protects and extends the lifespan of larger cables like the battery connector cable. For a clean finish, simply melt the edges holding it near a lighter flame.

Heat Gun

Always move the heat gun back and forth, never holding it in one spot, to avoid burning or overheating the shrink tubing.

Kapton Electrical Tape

Kapton Electrical Tape is occasionally used for special electrical modifications, but its primary purpose is inside the battery. It offers a range of benefits, including high-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, flame retardancy, dimensional stability, a non-residue adhesive, and a light moisture barrier.

Gasket Maker

Used to seal the motor cover when servicing your 205 motor.

Liquid Electric Tape

Liquid electrical tape is not a replacement or alternative for electrical loom tape. Instead, use it for specific situations where a watertight seal, flexible protection, and vibration resistance are needed.

Electrical Contact Cleaner

Electronic Grade Silicone

The clear silicone used for the QS 205, 260, and 273 motors.

Used internally for ONYX batteries.

Hall Sensor

This is the hall sensor used for the QS 205, 260, and 273 motors.

Harness Terminal Pin Removal Tool

Used to remove pins from the main harness connectors.

Shop Towels

Orange Pumice Hand Cleaner

Crimp Tool for Butt Splice Terminals

Butt Splice Terminals

When connecting two 8 AWG phase wires for the motor, use an 8 AWG copper butt splice terminal.

Battery Cable and Phase Wire Lug

For the stock Kelly controller power and phase connectors, use 8 AWG 5/16 lugs. The same applies to the phase wire from the 205 motor at the controller end-use 8 AWG 5/16 lugs there as well.

Battery Discharge Cable

Refer to this table as a guide for selecting the appropriate discharge cable gauge for silicone copper stranded wire.

Volt Amps AWG
72v 110 8
72v 140 6
72v 170 4
84v 100 6
84v 130 6
84v 160 4
96v 90 8
96v 120 6
96v 150 4

Cables

Use the “20 AWG” wire to install turn signals and other electrical accessories. For higher power headlights, opt for “18 AWG” wires. For electrical projects requiring a more powerful DC to DC converter, use “16 AWG” wires.

PVC cable insulation remains flexible over time without hardening or cracking. It is resistant to corrosion, impact, abrasion, weathering, and static electricity. However, it has lower heat resistance compared to silicone cables.

Silicone-insulated cables, on the other hand, offer superior flexibility, high heat resistance, and resistance to oils and solvents. They are more susceptible to damage, wear less effectively than PVC leads, and generate static electricity.

Soldering Kit

Never use water to clean your soldering iron tip-instead, use a brass wire ball to maintain heat and clean more effectively. The electric soldering iron heats up faster than the butane version, which requires 11X butane gas for operation.

These are the two rear suspension spanner tools needed to adjust the height and stiffness of the EGO Boost rear shocks.

Spoke Wrench Tool

Once a year, use a spoke wrench to ensure all spokes are evenly tightened around the entire rim.

Spoke Truing Stand

The spoke truing stand is used to repair rims, replace rims, and replace spokes.

Motor Axle Strike Plate

Remove the hub cover screws from both sides of the 205, 260, or 273 motor. Lay the motor down with the phase wire facing up, making sure it’s not trapped underneath where it could get pinched or cut. Position the motor axle on this plate, lift the motor slightly, and give the axle a firm strike to separate the stator from the hub. Be mindful-those magnets are incredibly strong, so once you’ve got them apart, keep a firm grip to prevent them from snapping back together!

Freewheel Remover Tool

Use the freewheel remover tool to take off the freewhee and requires a 25mm wrench or 25mm socket.

Rubber Mallet

The rubber mallet is an essential tool for servicing suspension, swing arms, motors, straightening out your rim, and more.

Phase Wire Extension

Extend your motor phase 8 AWG phase wires lenght by 6".

To extend your phase wires, use this stainless steel M6 x 16mm bolt, nut, and washer set. You’ll also need 20mm heat shrink tubing, which can be found in this post.
